Love SwimRun UK Rules and Terms and Conditions
The following Love SwimRun Race Rules and Terms and Conditions for the UK are deemed to have been accepted when you enter The BIG Welsh Swim event. Please read them carefully before entering.
1. Race organisation
The BIG Welsh Swim is organised by Love SwimRun

2. Entry pre-requisite
2.1 To participate in a Love SwimRun event in the UK you must be a strong and experienced outdoor swimmer.
2.2 You must be over 18 years of age on the day of the race to enter the event.
2.3 Participants aged 16+ will need parental consent to take part in the event.
2.4 Under 16’s can complete the Mid way swim if accompanied in the water by a fee paying adult who will take complete responsibility for them.
3. Race course
Love SwimRun Llanberis will take place in Padarn Country Park, Llanberis, Snowdonia National Park, North Wales, UK. Map.
The finalised race route will not be published until 4 weeks prior to the race.
3.1 The race course will be marked and marshaled.
3.2 Participants must follow the marked course and instructions of marshals at all times.
3.3 Participants that do not follow the marked course or instructions given by marshals will be disqualified.
3.4 We reserve the right to amend the course subject to weather conditions and the requirements of the management of Padarn Country Park and other land owners. Any changes will be explained in detail during the Race Brief.
3.5 Swimmers completeing 2 or 3 lengths must checkin at each end of the lake before begining the next length. point and transition as a pair. Do not leave the checkpoints without ensuring your race number has been recorded.
3.6 There will be water and food stations throughout the course.
4.1 Teams must present the following Mandatory equipment at Registration, the Start Line and the Finish Line:
4.2 Mandatory equipment
– 1 wetsuit per participant suitable for water temperature of 12 degrees Celsius
– 1 pair goggles
– 1 Tow float (for non-wetsuit competitors only)
4.3 Mandatory equipment that Love SwimRun will supply
– Swim caps must be worn during all the swims
5. Timing & Cutoffs
5.1 The time is from the whistle blowing at the start until the competitor has crossed the finish line
5.2 There will be a 5 hour cut off for all swim lengths. Swimmers still in the water after this cut off will be retired from the event.
5.3 The race organisers and appointed staff can retire a participant at any time if they judge them not capable of finishing due to fatigue or poor physical condition.
5.4 If you are asked to retire from the race you must do so without question or complaint.
6. Swimmers responsibility
6.1.1 The participants must know the rules and follow these.
6.1.2 The participants shall respect other participants, Love SwimRun members and volunteers, spectators and the people living in the race area.
6.1.3 The participants are not allowed to use unfair methods to get advantages.
6.1.4 Participants compete in this event entirely at their own risk.
6.1.5 Participants must sign the event disclaimer at Registration. Participants who have not signed the waiver will not be allowed to start the race.
6.2 Before the race
Participants may train and scout the course prior to the race but must respect the local residents and the environment.
6.3 During the race
6.3.1 The participants are taking part at their own risk and can not hold Love SwimRun or any of its members or volunteers responsible for any accident during the race.
6.3.2 Participants must offer assistance in case of emergency.
6.3.3 Participants that withdraw from the race shall report this as soon as possible to the organisers.
6.3.4 Littering will not be tolerated and any participant seen dropping litter will be disqualified.
6.3.5 The race organisers can prevent a participant from continuing if they judge them not capable due to fatigue or poor physical condition. If you are asked to retire from the race you must do so without question or complaint.
6.3.6 No external assistance is allowed. Each participant has to make their own way from start to finish.
6.3.7 The course is in a lake open to public. Any disregard for other users (on land or in water) or dangerous or offensive behavior, including being rude to race officials will result in disqualification.
6.3.8 The use of headphones is prohibited.
6.3.9 The use of any swimming aids, such as flippers or paddles, is prohibited.
7. Complaints & protests
7.1 A protest must be given in writing to the race organisation within an hour after finishing the race.
7.2 A protest must include: Time and location , participant number/s, the reason for the protest – If possible include a witness with name and contact details or team number.
7.3 A protest that does not comply with the above will not be considered.
7.4 The protest will be reviewed by the Organisers and a decision communicated to those involved as soon as possible
7.5 The Organisers reserve the right to use “common sense” to take decisions about situations that aren’t clear in the rules
7.6 The Organisers decision is final
7.7 All other complaints must be made in writing to the race organisers using the contact details at the top of the page.
Failure to follow the rules will lead to disqualification
9. Cancellation & entry changes
9.1 Cancellation of your online application can be made in accordance with online selling law up to 14 days after purchase, except where your application is made within two weeks of the event date. Within this time period a refund will be given minus any transaction fees from Entry Central.
9.2 After a period of 14 days your application is final. No deferrals ot refunds of entry fees, in full or part, will be given including in circumstances where you are unable to attend due to illness or injury or a scheduling conflict. Subject to point 3.4, Refunds will be given where: 1) the Organiser cancels or materially delays or alters the event, 2) the Organiser makes a significant change to the location of the event or the date of the event so that you are no longer able to attend.
9.3 You may transer your entry into another name once. Please inform event organisers using the Contact page.
9.4 Any changes you make to your entry may be subject to an administration fee of £5.
9.5 Re-sale of entries is forbidden. Any transfers of your event entry to a third party (see 9.3) will be subject to the consent of the Organiser.
10. Pictures and film free rights
The participants gives the race organisation the right to use pictures and film material taken during the race to be used free of rights in marketing, press material, internet, television and movie.
All images and rights from the event are reserved. All unauthorized commercial use of images will be legally addressed.
11. Accepting the rules
By entering the race, each participant accepts the rules in full.
